Accessibility
This site, and Matinee itself, are made to be read and used comfortably by everyone.
What we aim for
The Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2 at level AA, and one rule of our own that goes further: every line of running text has a contrast of at least 7 to 1 against its background, and is at least 18 pixels, in every colour set, light and dark.
What this site does
- It follows your device's light or dark setting.
- With reduced motion turned on, nothing moves. Without it, pictures settle once, gently, and the words never move.
- It works without script, at 200% zoom, and at any width without sideways scrolling.
- Every picture that carries meaning has words; the rest are hidden from screen readers.
What we tested
In October 2026: this site in the three main browser engines and in seven browsers, on a computer and as an iPhone, an iPad and an Android phone; at widths from 360 to 2560 pixels; in light and dark; with reduced motion, without script and at 200% zoom. Every page was checked with the axe accessibility checker, and every colour pairing is checked by machine on every change. Real phones are being checked by hand.
Known gaps
None known. The two the tests found (a faded line in a drawing, and a wide table you couldn't reach by keyboard) are fixed.
